In an evolving trade environment where the Philippines is taking a stride to be an active player, a pressing issue currently confronting the customs brokerage community is what will the industry look like in the future? There is also a continuing debate on how the provisions of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act on the customs broker practice ran counter to the objectives of the Customs Broker Act of 2004.     The CMTA is now a law and the challenge is how we can embrace the change and look for opportunities along the way.   Today, the Customs Broker industry is at a critical point in its evolution. Hence, progressing in the area of technology enhancement, global trade management, border control administration, and security, is a key direction that could secure our industry's relevance in the future of the Philippines economy.
